Tiffen 72mm Linear Polarizer Filter

The Tiffen Linear Polarizer Filter is a useful tool for reducing reflections and glare. It works by filtering out polarized light that is reflected from non-metallic surfaces. This is particularly helpful for reducing the appearance of haze caused by sunlight reflecting off air molecules. By arranging and filtering the directionally polarized light, the filter is able to absorb much of the reflected light, resulting in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections. It also enhances the saturation of colors in the sky and foliage.

A linear polarizer is similar to a circular polarizer, but it does not include a quarter wave plane that enables auto focus and exposure features. This makes it best suited for use with manual cameras, such as view cameras, that do not rely on internal mechanisms for focus or metering settings. Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, which involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass, grinding it flat to a precision of 10,000th of an inch, and then mounting it to precision metal rings.
